Welcome to Marie Curie Class
We are the class teachers, Mrs Whittle and Mrs Lodge. We love teaching Year 3. We are excited for an amazing year filled with lots of fun topics and learning opportunities. It will be a year of Egyptians, the Stone age and much much more! This year we have named our class after the scientist, Marie Curie. In our class, we also have Mrs Brook helping us. She is amazing and will be on hand to support us in the class each days. Keep checking what we have been up to!
Colour Combinations
It’s been a very arty afternoon at Scissett. Year 3 have been exploring and experimenting with colour combinations. We have been looking at colours that compliment and contrast. We are going to choose from our ideas and use a combination in our project piece.
Maths Lessons
Class Curie have been working on adding and subtracting 1’s, 10’s and 100’s in our maths lessons this week. We’ve been using the base ten apparatus and pictures to support our learning. Great work Year 3!

Science Lessons
In Science, the children have been learning about force and that we measure force in Newtons. We investigated the force that was needed to move an object along different surfaces. We found that rubber was the surface that needed the most force applied to the object to move it and a wooden table the least. We were budding scientists!
First Week Back
Curie Class have had a fantastic first week in Year 3. They’ve started learning about place value in Maths and have completed their first writing project called “The Colour Collector”.
The class explored the school environment to hunt for different colours that could be stolen by a mysterious stranger. We used these ideas to write poems.
Well done Class Curie!
