Special Educational Needs at Scissett CE Academy

SEND Local Offer at Scissett CE Academy.

We recognise that at some point in any child’s time at Scissett CE Academy they may require additional support to reach their potential. We are a fully inclusive school and believe that all children should be valued and treated with respect and as individuals. The school uses its best endeavours to ensure that the provision for all of its pupils is of the highest possible standard, whilst acknowledging that we are continually striving to improve our practice.

We are committed to narrowing the attainment gap between children with SEND and their non-SEND peers. We are working to achieve this in variety of different ways to support your child to reach his/her full potential in order to ensure a successful transition into adult life.

If you wish to discuss your child’s educational needs or are worried about something regarding your child’s schooling, in the first instance speak to the class teacher. Following this, the SENDCO and Headteacher are also available.

Please contact the school office (01484 861488 or office@scissettceacademy.org) to arrange a meeting.

Our SENDCO at Scissett CE Academy is Nigel Codling.

Kirklees Local Offer

From September 2014 Kirklees Council is required to publish, in one place, information about the services and provisions we expect to be available in our area for children and young people from birth to 25 years of age who have Special Educational Needs and/or a Disability (SEND), together with additional information about services outside of Kirklees which children and young people from our area may wish to use. This approach is known nationally as the â€˜Local Offer â€˜and more information can be found here. Alternatively contact LocalOffer@kirklees.gov.uk.
