Welcome to Rob Burrows Class
We are the class teachers, Mrs Whittle and Mrs Lodge. We love teaching Year 3. We are excited for an amazing year filled with lots of fun topics and learning opportunities. It will be a year of Egyptians, the Stone age and much much more! This year we have named our class after the late Rob Burrows. In our class, we also have Mrs Brook helping us. She is amazing and will be on hand to support us in the class each days. Keep checking what we have been up to!

Rub Burrows Class - Autumn Term 2025

Children in Need

On Friday, Year 3 went down to Clayton west to cheer on Lindsey Burrow and BBC Look North's Amy Garcia on their 30 mile 3 legged walk for Children in Need.
The true stars of the morning were the children! Despite the weather they shone! We were so proud of their positivity and behaviour. Well done Year 3!

Non Fiction Text

Year 3 are learning all about non fiction texts and non chronological reports in our writing lessons. We’ve loved finding out facts about Pangolins. Did you know that when they feel threatened they curl up in a ball and make a foul smell to scare off predators?

We are finding out about the features of the non chronological texts and on Friday we explored what a glossary is and created our own using dictionaries. We found definitions of relevant words and recorded these in our books.

Textile Art Work

Year 3 have been exploring textile art work. The children have explored how artists such as Alice Kettle combine media and use them in unusual ways to make art. They used paint to create a background on fabric, mixing colours to create different tints which reflected an Antarctic landscape.

Working Hard!

Year 3 have been busy working hard. We’ve been acting and writing stories, working on our math skills and exploring colours.

Keep up your super work Year 3!

An Excellent Start!

Rob burrows class (Year 3) have had an excellent start to their new journey in key stage 2. Mrs Whittle and Mrs Lodge have been really proud of how hard they have worked and how brilliantly they have behaved.

To start the year we have been creating some poetry around the theme of the sound collector. After exploring the poem we decided to create our own poems called the ‘Colour Collector’ which were all about a stranger who came to our school to take away our colours. We went on a colour hunt around school to support our writing. Well done Year 3, you’ve produced some excellent work already!
