Welcome to Lucy Bronze Class

Teacher: Mrs Todhunter

Welcome to Bronze Class! We are the Year 1 children at Scissett CE Academy. Our teacher is Mrs Todhunter and she loves to help us learn new things and share new stories with us. Mrs Martin also works in our classroom during the week and Mrs McGregor keeps us safe and happy at lunchtime.
This year, our classes are named after sporting heroes. We are named after Lucy Bronze, a footballer who currently plays for Chelsea and the Lionesses. She has won the Euros, Womens’ Champions League and WSL multiple times.
In Year 1, we work hard to build on the skills that we have learnt in Reception, with a greater emphasis on independence. Our routine is a little more structured than Reception, as we have lots of different lessons to cover! We have lots of exciting topics this year, from the Great Fire of London to exploring Victorian holidays.
We can’t wait to show you what we learn over the year – keep checking back to stay up to date with our learning journey! If you would like to find out more about Phonics in Year 1, please see our Phonics page.

Lucy Bronze Class - Autumn Term 2025

Day One

Welcome to the first day of Year 1! Our new Bronze Class have had a fantastic time settling into their new classroom and starting to learn the new routines and expectations. They have written some wonderful sentences about themselves in English, thought about what makes them unique in RE and taken part in some musical games with Mrs Boulby in music. Well done Year 1, we can already tell it's going to be a great year!
