Teacher - Miss James
We are the Year 2 children at Scissett CE Academy and we are the oldest children in Key Stage 1. In Year 2, we are working hard to become more independent in our learning and build our resilience and confidence but we always make sure we have fun to make our learning experiences memorable and enjoyable.
Our class teacher is Miss James and she loves to keep us engaged and loves helping us learn. Mrs Brook also works in our classroom during the week and she is amazing at helping us to stay organised and develop our creativity!
We will be updating our blog frequently to share our learning with you at home – there’s lots of exciting things to come in Year 2!

School Trip - Conisbrough Castle
Year 2 had a fantastic day visiting Conisbrough Castle as part of their History topic. We took part in the storytelling of Lord Hamelin and Lady Isabel who lived in the castle, learned about the different jobs and explored the castle walls.
Y2 Multiskills Event - Shelley College
St Augustine's Church
Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to St Augustine's church this morning. Reverend Sarah spoke to the children about all the different parts of the church. The children looked carefully at the stained glass windows and were able to tell Reverend Sarah which one was about the birth of Jesus Christ and which one was about the story of The Good Disciple. Well done Year 2!
Practicing for Year 2 Multiskills
Year 2 had a great time this afternoon practising lots of skills in readiness for their Y2 Multiskills event at Shelley College on 14 October. They all really enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to visiting Shelley College soon.
Week 1
Class Raducanu have had a busy first week back getting into the swing of the new school year in Year 2, learning new routines and expectations. We got underway with some practical maths identifying tens and ones in numbers to 100, in English we have been looking at powerful adjectives to describe an unknown dragon and with Mrs Boulby in RE, have been revisiting places of worship. A fantastic start with lots more new and wonderful learning to come!
